Who We Are

NACCU  was registered under the cooperative societies Act on 15th July 2017 as a national cooperative organization. Its membership consist of all registered secondary coffee cooperative unions in Kenya. Currently it has a membership of 10 unions who are fully paid.

The mandate of NACCU is to advocate for  the welfare of over 800,000 right holders who are the small scale coffee farmers(Promotion of welfare  and social economic interest of coffee producers in Kenya). NACCU was formed out of the realization that there was a gap in the representation  of small-scale coffee farmers to the duty bearers at all levels of the coffee value chain.NACCU is registered under registration number CS21505

The key focus of the We Effect in the partnerships with the coffee cooperative unions is support for farmers in strengthening the farmer’s organizations to engage the duty bearers to develop and implement gender sensitive legislation and policies in issues affecting them.

We effect has partnered with farmers based organizations (FBOs) including cooperative unions in strengthening the ability of smallholder coffee, milk and forest farmers to adopt sustainable farming methods and provide food for their families
